DeSantis increased his funding commitment to $3.5 billion over the next four years for Everglades restoration, water quality initiatives and water supply protections for Floridians, businesses and tourists alike.

Florida took another big step forward as leaders work to restore the Everglades and protect the state’s water quality and environment.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced plans Tuesday to spend $3.5 billion in his second term on environmental projects such as restoring the Everglades and addressing water-quality problems.

Praising the DeSantis administration for its efforts on water quality and efforts to preserve the Everglades, Anna Upton, the CEO of the Everglades Trust, applauded the governor for keeping Hamilton at DEP.

This week, U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., threw his support behind a resolution from U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, D-Fla., honoring the 75th anniversary of Everglades National Park and affirming the U.S. House’s “commitment to the success of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan.”

“Governor DeSantis understands that Florida’s economy runs on water. Funding critical water quality and restoration projects is not only good for the environment, it’s also good for our economy,” Anna Upton, CEO of the Everglades Trust told The Florida Standard.
