Tallahassee, Fla. – The Everglades Trust (Trust) today released the following statement, attributed to its CEO Anna Upton, recognizing the Florida Legislature for fully funding Everglades projects and restoration efforts at more than $800 million in its fiscal year 2025-26 budget.
“The Florida Legislature created a fiscally conservative budget that makes smart investments in projects, like Everglades restoration, that are critically important to our state, our economy and Floridians.
“Florida’s water-based tourism economy is dependent on the health and well-being of its environment, which is why full funding for restoring America’s Everglades is vital to the continued prosperity of our great state.
“Our state and Floridians are fortunate to have strong leaders, like President Ben Albritton and Speaker Daniel Perez, who understand that this significant investment will ensure we are making sustained progress toward preserving and protecting our beloved and economically important Everglades.”
