Tallahassee, Fla. – The Everglades Trust (Trust) today released the following statement, attributed to its CEO Anna Upton, thanking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has been a longtime champion for the Everglades, for signing the fiscal year 2025-26 budget, which fully funds Everglades projects and restoration efforts at more than $800 million.
“Thank you, Governor DeSantis, for being a longtime supporter and champion of America’s Everglades and its restoration, the world’s largest ecosystem restoration effort and one that is critical to Floridians and the economic prosperity of the state.
“His understanding of the importance of Everglades restoration, coupled with his advocacy, is why Florida has made such historic progress over the last few years.
“Now, with his signing of the fiscal year 2025-26 budget, which fully funds Everglades projects and restoration efforts, we can continue to make needed and momentous progress toward restoring the flow of freshwater south through the Everglades.”
