Gov. DeSantis holds groundbreaking for new EAA reservoir pump station

PALM BEACH CO., Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was at the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir Project on Thursday morning to announce the groundbreaking of a new inflow pump station in Palm Beach County.

The EAA is a restoration project to store and clean water before sending it south to the Everglades, according to the Everglades Foundation. The area is planned to be a 10,000-acre reservoir that can store up to 78 billion gallons of water from Lake Okeechobee.

“Today’s groundbreaking is another momentous milestone that brings us that much closer to the completion of Everglades restoration,” said Everglades Trust CEO Anna Upton.
