Tallahassee, Fla. – The Everglades Trust (Trust) today released the following statement, attributed to its CEO Anna Upton, thanking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for making Everglades restoration a priority in his budget recommendations and the Florida Legislature for including robust funding in its budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024.
“Governor DeSantis has consistently demonstrated his unwavering commitment to America’s Everglades, and that included his budget recommendation ahead of the 2023 legislative session.
“Today, the Florida Legislature also signaled their commitment to the Everglades by including $624.6 million in their budget passed today for critical restoration and water quality projects.
“We are grateful to Governor Ron DeSantis, Senate President Kathleen Passidomo and House Speaker Paul Renner. They are true champions of the Everglades, recognizing the critical role the Everglades plays in Florida’s water-based economy.
