Everglades Trust Statement on EAA Reservoir Inflow Pump Station Groundbreaking

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Everglades Trust (Trust) today released the following statement, attributed to its CEO Anna Upton, on the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir Inflow Pump Station that the South Florida Water Management District broke ground on. Upton was in attendance at the groundbreaking.

“I am thrilled to witness today’s groundbreaking of the important EAA Reservoir Inflow Pump Station that is critical to the ultimate success of the reservoir and the entire Everglades restoration project.

“The state smartly leveraged its strong partnership with the federal government and was able to announce an historic agreement several months ago allowing the state to take on the completion of the EAA Reservoir, with this project being part of that.

“Because Florida took advantage of the significant momentum it has already made on Everglades restoration and seized the opportunity to continue to lead, we’re shaving off time from the overall construction schedule.

“Today’s groundbreaking is another momentous milestone that brings us that much closer to the completion of Everglades restoration.”
